New Home–Day 117

At last … we’re seeing substantial changes in the house almost every day!!

In the 6 days since my last visit, the team has laid out the bars for the construction of our foundation.  Pulte is now building their homes with an engineered post tension slab construction – which basically means the foundation is infused with bars that magically help with settling problems in the future.  Once these bars are set, they will be ready to pour the concrete for our foundation soon!!

New Home–Day 111

In the 10 days since they’ve broken ground, the building crew has been busy on our site.  They dug trenches and laid the plumbing and electrical all of this week.  While Aaron visited one day, the site was a mess and pictures don’t do it justice…

However, today when I visited the digging was done.  The plumbing was buried.  And the site looked pretty similar to what it has for months with the exception of the newly sprouted pipes.

New Home–Day 101

Happy 14th Anniversary to us!!

And happy breaking-ground day!

We’ve had a lot of rain digging hasn’t begun.  However, the footprint has been staked and its easy to see where the house will sit

Its such a relief to have work accomplished on our house – to finally see things start to take shape.  This is a long journey but at least we’re kicking it off…

Pre-Kindergarten

Elayna started ‘real’ school this week!!  She’s in the pre-kindergarten program at the new Fireside Elementary school – just down the road from our house.

Wednesday morning was a meet-and-greet with the parents and teachers.  Elayna’s class is about 20 kids with a teacher and 2-aides.  She has an adorable little desk, cute circle-time area, and tons of new toys and classroom material.  She jumped right in meeting new friends!

Yesterday and today have been the first full days of school:  9am – 3pm every day.  They eat lunch in the cafeteria, have a rest time everyday, and study a variety of subjects.  They are busy and Elayna loves her new clothes and backpack!  Just like a big kid.

But public school means no more daily report card – no update of every activity.  She was sent home yesterday with a sticky-note and a smile…

New Home–Day 86

It has been a while since we’ve visited our dirt.  We are starting to get anxious while no physical work is happening on the house but are told we should break ground this month…  Let’s be hopeful.

While our lot is still just a big pile of dirt, its interesting to compare the progress of the neighbor’s houses

Looking West:  Both houses on that side are almost complete.  They’ve installed their back wall (our side wall).

Looking East:  In May, they had staked out the home but ground wasn’t broken yet.  Today the exterior is framed and room is going on – nice!

So while there’s not a lot of progress on our house to record, we still had a great time swimming in the pool at the Community Center
