Fall Break 2012

We are pretty sure Elayna never goes to school … she seems to have a day off almost every week.  This week was Fall Break – 3 days off of school.  A and I decided to take a few days off work too and we escaped to Sedona for a bit.

Elayna did a great job camping, hiking, and enjoying being outside.  She made a new friend, the caterpillar and splashed merrily in Oak Creek.  The  weather was fabulous and we all enjoyed some time together.

House Update–Day 136

And like magic the walls start going up and a house is formed.

House Update–Day 129

The concrete slab looks very similar to several days ago although I can tell that the elves have been on-site.  There are clamps in the concrete where the frame will be attached.  There are outlines of where the inner walls will go up.  Things are taking shape.

Dream Conversations

Conversation I just had with E this morning:

E:  Mommy, I just had a nice dream.

Me:  Great, sweetie.  What was the dream about?

E:  A wedding.

Me:  A wedding?  Really?  Whose wedding?

E:  My wedding.

Me:  Oh?  Were you marrying Prince Charming?

E:  No.  Jasmine.  [Nod head.  Save speech about how she can love whoever she wants for another day.]

Me:  Wow, sweetheart.  It sounds nice.

E:  We had lollipops.  And rainbows.  And fruit snacks.

Me:  Was mommy there?

E:  No.  Daddy.  [Great.  Missed my own daughter’s pretend Princess wedding!]

Me:  Daddy loves you.

E:  And a swordfish.

Me:  Oh.  Ahh… was it a nice swordfish?

E:  Yes.  I like swordfish.  [I’m sensing a downturn in the conversation coming soon.]

Me:   Great.

E:  And jellyfish.

Me:  Oh.  Was it a nice jellyfish?

E:  Mommy!  Jellyfish aren’t nice.  They have thing-ies and squiggle.  [starts waving arms around.]

And conversations pretty much falls apart right there.

But if you’re ever wondering what a 4-year old dreams about, it’s a lovely underwater sea wedding to Jasmine with the best fruit snack caterer around.  And it is a lovely dream.

New Home–Day 123

We have a foundation!!!

Concrete was poured on our house today!  It is so beautiful, so perfect, so new.  A blank canvas to create the rest of the structure.  The foundation of our home…

New Home–Day 117

At last … we’re seeing substantial changes in the house almost every day!!

In the 6 days since my last visit, the team has laid out the bars for the construction of our foundation.  Pulte is now building their homes with an engineered post tension slab construction – which basically means the foundation is infused with bars that magically help with settling problems in the future.  Once these bars are set, they will be ready to pour the concrete for our foundation soon!!

New Home–Day 111

In the 10 days since they’ve broken ground, the building crew has been busy on our site.  They dug trenches and laid the plumbing and electrical all of this week.  While Aaron visited one day, the site was a mess and pictures don’t do it justice…

However, today when I visited the digging was done.  The plumbing was buried.  And the site looked pretty similar to what it has for months with the exception of the newly sprouted pipes.
