We were so happy to host my family for Thanksgiving this year!! Both my parents flew in from Montana and my brother Nate joined us from Iowa. Elayna loved the whole week of grandparent spoiling and it was a great relaxing week.
A few photos:
Pie baking and candy-turkey decorating with Grandma!
Mischief making and card-playing with Uncle Nate
We ate Thanksgiving dinner outside – the weather was so amazing!!
And a Phoenix Thanksgiving always means bowling afterwards. What a fun time!!
Elayna’s first play: the pre-K Thanksgiving production of ‘Who will Carve the Turkey?’
Elayna was the Dinosaur. And while this sounds weird, she seemed to get along perfectly fine alongside the polar bear, shark, and saber-tooth tiger.
It was a very cute play and the kids were so excited to show off and prepare. Elayna is a natural performer and was very proud to show her room to Grandma and Grandpa. It was a fun hour.
Although we waited several weeks for the sheet-rock crew, the interior sheet-rock is coming along nicely. The bad-news is I don’t have any good pictures…
However, the exterior stucco has also been completed and looks wonderful. It is feeling more and more like a house and things are really taking shape!
About 6 weeks ago, Elayna decided she wanted to be Princess Jasmine for Halloween. And I – for some unknown reason – decided against buying the cheap costume and instead consumed $$, time, and sanity crafting the outfit myself.
In all probability, this project should have ended badly. The pattern was the hardest I’ve ever attempted and there were a million little pieces, ric-rac, bangles, and seams. On top of this, Elayna declared the costume too ‘itchy’ every time we tried it on and frequently told people she was going to be Princess Ariel instead. I was sure we were doomed.
However, by sunset last night, our little trick-or-treater was practically levitating and eager to hit the streets. She happily decided the costume wasn’t itchy after all and loved all the attention she got as a cute little belly dancer. And I LOVED that the costume actually fit her so well and that she had so much fun!
Happy Halloween!!
