Happy signing day for us!!
It’s almost ours … after months and months of waiting, watching, planning, worrying, and dreaming.
Today we signed our closing docs and had our final walkthough of the house with the building supervisor, Brandon. The house is lovely and aside from a few paint fixes and missing appliances it is completely READY! Brandon walked us through everything top to bottom, and we couldn’t be more pleased. The house looks BEAUTIFUL!
The funniest development is that our range and fridge have been back-ordered and unavailable. While the range should be here before move-in, the fridge will be several weeks delayed. Pulte has loaned us a little fridge in the meantime and it looks so paltry and sad in the space.
We get the keys on Tuesday, January 29th! Almost there….

I think we had forgotten how much we enjoy having a dog in the house. The little warm body snuggled next to us. The jubilation while running in the desert. The excited kisses in greeting. Shelby is all love, all the time.
Shelby and Elayna are fast friends. Shelby follows her around religiously, frequently grabbing onto her clothes with her little teeth or jumping on her to get her attention. Elayna alternately loves and hates this. She’s getting much bigger and can jump on the couch or steal items off low tables. Nothing really is safe. And she LOVES shoes and will proudly prance around the house with her trophy until we can chase her down. So far, we don’t have any large destruction items other than a few plastic toys. She’s getting the hang of housetraining and accidents are usually only if we forget or can’t get to the door in time. And she’s thankfully learning not to bite quite so much.
We are still getting up once or twice a night with her and I miss sleep. Let’s hope she starts making it through the night soon…
So yes, the puppy phase is hard. We’re monitoring her constantly to see what she’s getting into. We’re pulling her off Elayna or swatting her for biting. But she’s also such a sweet girl and loves to cuddle and play. Her priority is us – she just wants to be with us – and that unconditional love is beautiful and touching.
I should start counting DOWN the days instead as we now have an official closing date! We receive the keys to our home on January 29th – just 21 days away!
Carpet is now in! The backsplash is in the kitchen. Tile work is completed and light fixtures, electrical plates, and switches are in. We’re counting only minimal finishing touches to having the home complete.
